ST. CABRINI HOSTS JOINT SCIENTIFIC SEMINAR

Brachytherapy is an advanced cancer treatment technique where, using an HDR after loader, radioactive seeds or radiation sources are inserted near or inside the tumor itself via strategically positioned catheters, giving a high radiation dose to the malignant tumor while reducing the risk of radiation exposure to the surrounding healthy tissues. HDR Brachytherapy can provide highly precise treatment in minutes. The catheters are eventually removed after a series of treatment sessions, and there are no radioactive seeds left in the body.
