February 28, Thursday - St. Frances Cabrini Medical Center (SFCMC), in partnership with the Philippine Academy of Dental Public Health (PADPH) conducted the continuing education seminar with a theme, "Hospital Dentistry as Part of Continuity of Care and Its Role in Health Systems Strengthening."
The program commenced with Florentino Afable DMD, MBA's lecture titled "Integrating Dentistry into the Health Systems Delivery," where he tackled the opportunities and challenges associated in dental practice. It was followed by Artemio Licos, DMD, MPH, DrPH's presentation about "Hospital Dentistry as the Apex of Quality of Care." Thereafter was Mariano Maglutac Jr. DMD, MHA's "Infection Control in Dental Practice" and Melchor Sarmiento DMD, MPH's discussion of "Antimicrobial Resistance: Public Health and Dental Implications." On the other hand, Rose Ann Rosanes DDM, MPH discussed the principles of evidence-based dentistry, documentation, ethics, and data privacy.
Ma Aurora Dellosa, DMD, MHA, and Ma Susan Yanga-Mabunga, DMD, MScD were also present in the event as its moderators.
The seminar, held at the Lyceum - St. Cabrini Institute of Health Sciences' Auditorium, was attended by over a hundred dentistry practitioners and students. It concluded with Dr. Afable encouraging the Philippine dentistry community to embrace the evolving healthcare arena and be an active part of the future interprofessional health care delivery within hospital systems. He also urged every dentist to enroll in St. Cabrini’s Hospital Dentistry courses and be involved in dental public health as educators, researchers, administrators, and advocates.
