This year's theme concentrates on the Basics and Breakthroughs in Cancer Management: Focus on Breast, Lung, Colon Malignancies, and Palliative Care. Held at the Bellevue Hotel, Alabang last June 13 and 14, the event was participated by different consultants from the region and other nearby cities.
Ana Karina DJ. De Lara MD, Jon Cris G. Arcillas MD, Malen M. Gellido MD, and Michael Vincent C. Saniel MD moderated the two-day event, with the honorary presence of John C.F. Alonzo MD (President and COO) who gave out his welcoming remarks on the first day.
Breast Cancer session was about Recovery Surgery, Intraoperative Assessment of Sentinel Node, Updates on Hormonal and Targeted Therapy and Immunotherapy, and Radiation Therapy: 2D vs IMRT with Joseph Thomas A. Noriega MD, Nicasio G. Radovan III MD, and Jose Roel E. Resubal MD as its speakers, respectively. On the other hand, Immunotherapy and Updates on WHO and AJCC Staging were tackled by Rex Michael C. Santiago MD and Ma. Pamela D. Patdu MD during the Lung Cancer session.
Imaging Modalities for Liver Metastasis, Liver Directed Therapies, Challenges in Colorectal Surgery, Short Radiotherapy vs Long Course Chemotherapy, and Prognosis for Molecular Testing were discussed for Colorectal Cancer Session with Marc James D.C. Delos Santos MD, Dennis C. Villanueva MD, Sherwin G. Alamo MD, Enrico D. Tangco MD, and Mary M. Igot MD as the speakers. Meanwhile, Mylene B. Tiamson MD, Joyce B. Bernardino MD, and Djhoanna G. Pedro MD spearheaded the last session about Cancer Cachexia and Nutritional Support, and the Issues and Controversies of Palliative Medicine.
Conchitina O. Mendoza MD (Postgraduate Over-all Chair) and Rosalinda DS. Pulido MD (Head of Cancer Institute) led the event as its head organizers.
